Yesterday after my WW meeting and before I went food shopping I had to hit up the Salvation Army to try and find some jeans for my boys and clothing for Big Helper and I. The jeans were a no-go but I did find a couple of nice jumpers for Big Helper and then I tried on several shirts for myself. Stnding in front of the dressing room mirror I started to feel very bad about myself and my body, ect, ect, ect. Going clothes shopping is still not an enjoyable experience for me but I had to get some things. I was able to find a nice red top and a black skirt that I was happy with. So when I went to the grocery store I was feeling a bit down, not liking the way I look and feeling like my progress is soo slow and pretty insignificant in the face of how much weight I still need to lose. I mean, really, what is 17 measly pounds compared to the 80-90 I still need to lose? I went over to the turkeys to try and find a good one. Hubby had asked me to pick up an 18 pounder. As I slogged through the heavy turkeys, found one that fit the bill and hoisted it up and into the cart, it occured to me that that turkey, that big ole heavy thing, represented about the same amount of weight that I had lost. And in that moment my weight loss felt significant.
Later that night I had another revelation while talking to hubby about car seats. Snuggles is over one now but not quite 20 pounds. We want to put her in a different carseat and we were trying to figure out which carseat would be best for her. And then it hit me. She weighs 17 pounds. My little baby, my darling little girl, weighs exactly 17 pounds. There is was. A living breathing example of how much weight I have lost so far. And while she is teeny weeny and itsy bitsy, when I have to lug her around for awhile she feels very heavy. And that was what I used to be carrying around with me, but not any more. So I like these living breathing reminders. My next goal is to lose Sunshine. That sounds funny, but I mean to lose how much she weighs. She is a petite little thing too and weighs 26 pounds. So that is my next goal. Then Fiesty Princess will be my next target. When I can pick them up and carry them around and say, wow, I used to be carrying this much extra weight on my body, it is a pretty aweseme visual picture for me and I am a very visual person.
So that is my ah ha moment and insight for the day. :)
To Find Myself
This blog will chronicle my journey on the Weight Watchers Momentum program. I need to lose at least 90 pounds. I would love to lose 100. My plan is to stick with the program and make permenent lifestyle changes that will help me to lose weight and be strong and healthy. No more fad diets for me. No more yo-yo dieting. I am tired of being buried under all this fat. It is time To Find Myself.

Saturday
Today was my WW meeting and weigh in. I was down another 2 pounds! Yay for me! I am happy with that number. Of course we always want more but 2 is better than 1 which is better than nothing and I am happy with 2. If I can consistently lose 2 pounds a week I will be doing good. I was able to exercise three days last week and burned almost 1500 calories. I am proud of myself for that. This week will be a challenge in the exercise department as will the next several weeks. I have so much to share with you about things that are happening this next week but I can't do it now.
What I do want to do right now is talk about some things that happened today. First of all today is Saturday and I always make up my menu for the week and a corresponding grocery list on Friday. Then after my WW meeting on Saturday I go grocery shopping and run any other errands that need to be done. Saturdays are not good days to go grocery shopping. Period. Everyone else is out trying to go food shopping and the aisles are crowded and everything. I know this, but there is nothing that can be done about it. It is more practical for me to fight the crowds and go after my meeting than to do it on a different day making another trip to town and wasting more gas. Might as well get it down while I am in town and just deal with the crowded conditions. It usually doesn't bother me too much. Today however was a whole different story. Today being the last Saturday before Thanksgiving everyone and their mother was at the store. It was so packed full of people and nobody had any sense of what they were doing! They were just meandering around the store slowly as if on a leisurely Sunday stroll in the park. Move People! Come on!! Have a sense of purpose, get done what you need to get done or get out of the way!! Perhaps I am too efficient. Having 7 children will do that to a person. Or perhaps I am too impatient. I don't think of myself as impatient though. It is terribly hard to be impatient with 7 children. I mean there is a certain measure of patience needed just to mother that many children so I am not an impatient person. As a matter of fact at one point in our shopping trip a little old lady had the unfortunate experience of having her frozen orange juice leap out of her cart and go scurrying down the grocery aisle. I immediately sent my Tonka boy off to fetch it for her and waited patiently while he retrieved it and brought it back to her. So see? I am not an impatient tyrant. It just would be nice if people would go shopping with a sense of purpose. You know? Get it done, lets go! And I am not like this in other places. Other stores certainly merit taking a longer more leisurely time. Any shoe store, for instance, clothing stores, malls. All of these places are ones that I am not botherd by the meandering masses. But at the grocery store it bugs me to no end. Make a list, stick to it, get what you need and get out of my way! Ha. :)
Oh, a funny thing happened at the check out too. The belt stopped working. You know the conveyor belt that brings all of your food up to the clerk so she can beep it and pack it up for you? Yeah, that belt. It wouldn't go. And I didn't even freak about it. I actually thought it was rather humourous and was perfectly prepared to make for a very long check out experience of shoving all of my goods down the conveyor belt piece by piece until we were down. A rather odious task considering the fact that I had two, (yes two!) grocery carts with me. But I was rolling with the punches. She finally got the thing fixed though. Apparently there was a sticker on the metal next to the button to turn the contraption on and off and it wouldn't work with the sticker on it. So bizarre!! I mean, just really weird. So as we were laughing about the absurdness of it she told me that the machine was very persnickety! Persnickety!! I love it. I always use the word persnickety and I have never heard another person use it before. People always look at me weird like 'what did you just say?' I laughed with her and told her that I was so happy that she used the word persnickety because I do too. It was funny. Maybe you had to be there though. :)
Also, this week I learned a very important, and painful lesson about fiber. Apparently you can eat too much fiber. Or at least I can. My tummy was so angry with me all week and I could not figure out what was going on. But by the end of the day, every night, my tummy would be beating out a painful song. I would sit on the couch curled up and hunched over in such pain. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then I got to looking at my food journal and saw that I was eating a lot of vitalicious VitaTops. They are so yummy. And chocolatey! And only 1 point each!! What's not to love?? They had become my go to snack and I realized that I was eating 3, 4, even 5 of them a day. That is a LOT of fiber and my tummy was not happy about it. I had to take a day off, with no VitaTops at all, to see if that was in fact what my problem was and low and behold I was not in excruiating pain that night. So the next day I had only 1 VotaTop and I also enjoyed some yogurt and my tummy was very pleased with me. So I have learned that I can still enjoy my VitaTops, just not 4 or 5 a day and they need to be tempered with some tummy soothing yogurt too.
So that is all for now. :)

Ugh
That is how I feel today. Ugh. I am still so tired. I had a rough night and here is why. My bad kitty pooped and peed on my down comforter yesterday. So I had to strip it, and the blanket under it, off the bed to wash. Even though there was plenty of time left during the day that darn comforter did not dry. I kept putting it back in over and over and it was still damp when I went to bed. As I curled up in bed under my sheet only I hoped that my precious and beloved down comforter would be dry by the time hubby went to bed. No luck. I was soooooo cold all night long and I woke up several times. All the muscles in my back and neck are sore this morning from sleeping in a cramped fetal position to try and stay warm. This morning when hubby got up for work I asked him to check on the blanket, maybe I could get an hour of sleep under it's soft warm downiness. No go. It STILL wasn't dry. So I huddled under my sheet and shivered and tried to get some more sleep. This morning my throat is sore, my eyes are all bleary and I am so tired. I want to curl up and sleep but I have stuff to do and lots of it. Then early this morning said bad naughty kitty jumped up on my bed acting all sweet and I kicked furiously at him to get him off. Oh no you don't, you bad kitty!! You are NOT allowed on my bed. Very bad kitty!!
Yesterdays kitty incident prompted an interesting conversation at our dinner table. A bit of background. We have several Great Danes, all in the house, 2 indoor kitties, Hansel and Gretel and 1 outdoor kitty. It was Hansel who pooped on my bed. Gretel would never do such a thing. She does, however, poop in the plants but that is neither here nor there. Anyways, Golden Boy, who is 9, was expressing his desire to have one of our dogs go and live with him once he grows up and has his own home. Sadly those amazing and beautiful dogs do not have a long life expectancy and I explained to Golden Boy that said dog probably wouldn't still be alive in 10 years when he moved away. Then Fiesty Princess piped up and said that she wanted to take Gretel when she grew up and got married. No problem I said, you can if you would like. So Tonka says "I want to take Hansel with me." Haha, yeah, well Hansel might not live that long if he poops on my bed again! Bad kitty! I wouldn't seriously kill the cat, dont' get me wrong, I would NEVER do that. But I was so mad at that kitty yesterday. Bad, bad, BAD KITTY!! And if he persists he may just find himself kicked outside. Bad kitty!
Eating was good yesterday. I felt hungry a lot and did a lot of snacking but I only used 4 of my WP over my daily allowance. Not bad. I should get a move on now though. I need to throw some more laundry in. Nothing really got accomplished laundrywise yesterday since we were waiting for the blanket to dry ALL DAY LONG. And we are still trying to dry the darn thing. I have so much laundry to do. Update, YAY! It is dry!!! Woo-hooo! Finally!!

Yay Exercise! Finally!
Oh, I feel so accomplished! I finally was able to get on my elliptical and I did 4 miles and burned 500 calories. Yay for me!! I would like to be able to burn 500 calories a day. I am not sure how practical that is, but it is a goal of mine. I put a movie on and wactched part of the movie while working out and that helped significantly to keep my mind off the fact that I was exercising and give me something else to think about besides the clock. A slowed down a coupel of times to rest and then picked my speed back up again and kept going. I pushed through the tiredness and the wanting to quit and I am very proud of myself. I wanted to get 500 calories burned and I did. It seemed like a good number!
What else? Oh, I love, love, love the Morning Star chix patties. They are awesome! I am eating two of them right now for lunch on sandwich thins with lettuce and pickles. Yummy goodness and super filling too! I guess that is all for now. :)

Weigh In Day
This morning I went to my WW meeting and was down 2.2 pounds. That means I lost the pound that I gained and another pound on top of that. Yay!! I am very happy about that. My sweet son, Golden Boy, came with me and he was so funny about it. He said, "Well Mama, maybe if you work out on the elliptical every day for three or four hours you will lose more than 2 pounds in a week, then you will loss a bunch of weight every week!" I think that he has been watching The Biggest Loser too much! LOL! He is right though, I probably would lose more weight if I did that, but I wouldn't be a very good mother to my children if I spent that much time working out during the day. The meeting itself was good. We talked about Thanksgiving and our plans and what foods we felt like we just had to have and what foods were not that big of a deal. My have to have foods would be candied sweet potatoes, my homemade crescent rolls and date squares, then after the meal, later in the day, a turkey sandwich. I love after Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches. The other foods, turkey, mashed potatoes, ect, not a big deal. And I have never been a huge stuffing fan. I mean we can eat that sort of stuff anytime during the year. We have some form of chicken or turkey once a week or so and mashed potatoes are nothing special. We talked about going ahead with the special foods and skipping the stuff that wasn't that important. So I am going to plug my date square recipe into the recipe builder on WWonline and see if I can lighten it up a bit. I'm not messing with my crescent rolls, they are awesome just the way they are. I can probably lighten up the candied sweet potatoes as well. Other than that it is sthings like pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, ect. I am a dessert lover, but I can try some new stuff as well that I have seen online. Overall I am feeling optimistic about staying on plan and making the best of the day.
After the meeting we had a bunch of errands to run. We needed to get dog food, then go to the pet store to get snake litter and frozen mice (ewww! I know) then it was off to the shoe store to get shoes for Golden Boy, Big Helper and myself, then we went to the grocery store to get groceries for the week. When I got home I was sooo hungry and tired! I left my house at 8:45 this morning and did not get home again until 2:30 PM.
This morning it was raining, raining, raining. It finally cleared up but my carpets are a mess thanks to big muddy paws. I hate it when it rains. I mean I love the rain, I just hate what it does to my carpets via the dogs.
I guess that is all for now.
Oh wait, one more thing. Seriously people STOP SENDING ME LINKS TO WEBSITES!! THAT IS SPAM AND I AM NOT INTERESTED. KNOCK IT OFF!!!!!! GET A LIFE AND DON'T CLAIM GODS DIRECTION IN TRYING TO "HELP" ME. Seriously, I am a Christian and what you are doing, in the name of Gods leading you to try to help me, is ridiculous, pushy and overbearing. People like you push people away from Christ, not towards him. I am saying this as a Christian woman. Quit it!!
Have a great day. Oh, and thinking that maybe I need to change my comments page to only those who are on my following list? What do you think? This is getting ridiculous.

More Of The Same
OK, for the record, spaming on someone elses blog, no matter how nice and concerned and caring you try to sound, is still messed up. Period. It is one thing for someone who knows you to offer helpful advice, websites and videos ect, but when some random person sends not one, not two, not three, but FOUR messages under two different names (you are not fooling anyone here!) pushing their site and videos that is SPAM. Knock it OFF!! Or I will report you. Get a life and go pick on someone else.
Moving on. Tonight I made potato pizza for supper. I took a picture but our new rinky dinky camera is junk and the picture didn't come out good. It looked yummy though and it tasted good too, although it was higher in points than I wanted and was not super filling. But it was good. Different. I will probably make it again but lighten it up a bit more next time and serve it with a side salad or something.
Today we went and picked up Snuggles pictures. They came out so pretty except one of the prints was suppossed to be sepia and they did it in black and white so I need to bring it back and get that redone. Nothing else much is happening. I realize that Christmas is right around the corner and I have not gotten a thing for anyone. We are visiting relatives this year and will be far far away so I am not even sure what I am getting for the children because our van is going to be crammed to the max ont he way out to begin with. Add presents for 7 children and 2 adults and I think we are going to have some serious space issues. I need to get with hubby and figure out what the plan is. Because part of the Christmas presents this year IS the trip. But we also need to get them something tangible. And since we will be spending the holiday with family that we don't ususally see at Christmas there will be those presents to buy as well. So much to figure out. I would rather skip all presents, at least for the adults, and just enjoy each others company. But thats just me.
That is all for now. Hubby wants to play a game with the two older children and myself so I better go. Have a good one everyone :)

My Poor Tummy
I think that perhaps I am eating too much fiber. I don't know. My tummy has not been happy with me lately and it seems as though it is always rumbling and growling at me and I am making several trips to the bathroom, which is not a bad thing neccesarily. My bathroom is downstairs so everytime I have to use the bathroom I get a little mini workout. I just wish I didn't have the uncomfortable tummy feeling. I am not really sure what to do about it either.
Today was a good day in other areas too. For the last four weeks I have been trying to find a place to stay so that I could go and visit my Mother in California. I have not seen her in over 5 years and I have two children whom she has never even met which is just awful. I have been hitting a wall as far as trying to find something. I needed something furnished and not horribly expensive and big enough for myself and the children. I could not find anything and it was very frustrating! Well today after much looking, and searching and agonizing I finally found a place for us to stay. It is still a bit more than I wanted to spend but my Mom will be helping with the expense and I get to spend three whole weeks with my Mom. I am so happy and the children are super excited. My Carnivore was literally jumping up and down and giggling with glee. It was precious. So, yes, a good day personally.
I am still tired. And it has been so HOT here! What is this?! Isn't it November?! It feels like early summer here. Not complaining, but whew, it was hot today!! I have the windows open and love the fresh air. The longer we don't have to spend money running the heater the better in my opinion.
Anyways, that is all for now :)
